Social Networking

I am on Facebook and a twitterer - although I don't tweet a lot! I have found it to be a great way of keeping in touch with people I probably wouldn't call regularly but the occassional chat on FB keeps us in touch

The potential of these sites to access users who may not have ever set foot in a library is amazing. Advertising events, promoting collections and just general information about who we are and what we do. Just another way to get our message out there!

Wikis

Wikis are an interesting tool - I personally use Wikipedia a lot!

I would like to see a wiki introduced as something library staff can use to update processes and procedures etc. At the moment only a couple of people can update our intranet which relies on their availability to alter content. A wiki would be great for staff to be able to control, update and maintain what they use everyday. Unfortunately, due to restrictions, this may not be possible but here's hoping.

We use a wiki to advertise our holiday activities. With the amount of activities we are doing in our libraries, this is becoming a little bit too big to be user friendly. I think we will have to try and rework this a bit to make our information more user friendly.

Flicking through pics

I actually signed up with Flickr a couple of years ago but have never uploaded any photos or used it at all. It is amazing what you can find pictures of. I found this pic of a mini - I think my father would disown me if I tried to do this to one of his minis :-)

Our library service has recently added a Flickr page. Hopefully it will continue to grow...................
